🎖 Short Bio
Feng Xi is a professor and Ph.D. advisor at Hohai University, where she teaches and conducts research in offshore engineering and marine science. She is a council member of the Jiangsu Marine Society, and has been honored with the "Youth Scientist Award" from the China Disaster Prevention Association, the "Double Innovation Doctor of Jiangsu Province" award, and the title of "Outstanding Teacher" in the "Qinglan Project" of Jiangsu Province. Prof. Feng received her Ph.D. from the University of Florida in 2015, during which she received the Graduate Fellow Scholarship and the Philli and Dean Fellowships from the University of Florida. After graduation, she worked at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in the United States and later joined the College of Harbor, Coastal, and Offshore Engineering of Hohai University.
In recent years, she has focused on basic research on coastal resilience to climate change and marine environmental protection. Her main research areas include the disaster mechanisms and mitigation methods of extreme sea conditions, the development and optimization of hydrodynamic prediction models especially for nearshore regions, and the migration and transformation of substances (such as sediment particles and plastic debris) in nearshore and coastal environments. As of 2024, she has published more than 40 journal papers and authored two textbooks and two monographs. She and her team have received several awards, including the First Prize in Science and Technology from the China Disaster Prevention Association, the Second Prize in Marine Engineering Science and Technology from the China Ocean Engineering Association, and the Science and Technology Award from the Huaihe River Commission.
